STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILLS CANCELED FOR THURSDAY, WON’T BE RESCHEDULED
In light of the recent severe weather events that have impacted communities across the state, tornadoes drills scheduled for today throughout Wisconsin have been canceled. No alternative date will be scheduled for these drills.
ReadyWisconsin made the decision that moving ahead with the drills would place additional strain on emergency management, local agencies and those who are still responding to the impact of recent storms. Many communities remain focused on providing support to family members and loved ones affected by the storms, as well as assessing damage.
Residents should continue to stay informed about tornado safety, review their personal emergency plans, and remain vigilant year-round for severe weather and tornadoes, reminds ReadyWisconsin. Information on tornado safety can be found at readywisconsin.wi.gov/tornadoes/.
The next statewide tornado drills for Wisconsin are scheduled for April 15, 2027.
“While tornado preparedness is critically important, our immediate priority is on the safety and recovery of those impacted by these recent storms,” said Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator Greg Engle. “We recognize the value of these drills, but at this time, our communities need the flexibility and focus on real-world responses.”
